How the math works

The calculator converts both volumes to liters, finds how many "label amounts" of water your tank holds, and multiplies the dose by that number.

Should I dose for the full tank size or the actual water?
Actual water, especially for medication. Rocks, gravel and wood can take up a big share of the space.
Can I dose a bit extra to be safe?
Not with medication or fertilizers. Overdosing can harm fish, shrimp and snails. Follow the label and this number, and never exceed the maker's maximum.
